First Tee Leadership Series in partnership with PGA TOUR Superstore
The First Tee Leadership Series in partnership with PGA TOUR Superstore is an engaging and empowering five-week series designed to provide teens the opportunity to (1) build relationships with local PGATSS leadership, (2) uncover their leadership values and strengths, (3) identify potential careers based on those findings, and (4) develop goals on how to attain their desired career path.
Facilitated by local PGA TOUR Superstore leadership, the five-week leadership series will be the first opportunity in a unique leadership pathway designed specifically for First Tee teens in-store markets.
Programming Details
The in-person series will be limited to 12 participants (see eligibility requirements below) and will be facilitated by local PGA TOUR Superstore leadership. The leadership series will be conducted over 5 weeks, beginning the week of February 10, 2025. The weekly program will be delivered the same across all PGA TOUR Superstore markets and will incorporate First Tee’s concept of activity-based learning.
In addition to the local PGA TOUR Superstore facilitator, there will be a First Tee staff member/coach present to assist with classroom management. Each program session will run between 90-120 minutes (see curriculum overview).
Requirements
- Participants must be between the ages of 14 and 18 years old.
- Classified as a high school freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior as of February 3, 2025.
- Must register and by February 7th. There is no registration fee.
- Participating teens must attend all 5 sessions of the First Tee Leadership Series to apply for the Leadership
Academy in Atlanta and Leadership Summit in Montana.
Additional Opportunities for teens participating in the First Tee Leadership Series
The following events below are available to any teens that participate in the First Tee Leadership series.
First Tee Future Leaders Program
- Participant must be 16 years old and have participated in the Leadership Series in 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, or 2025.
- Paid, 6-week apprenticeship program at the local PGA TOUR Superstore location.
- This experience will provide teens an incredible opportunity to work in conjunction with store associates and the
management team to champion the PGATSS customer first philosophy. The apprenticeship program builds on the 5-week Leadership Series and will provide valuable training that will enhance transferrable skills in any environment. - Teens selected for this program may have an opportunity to stay on as a part-time employee at the store based on store availability.
First Tee Leadership Academy– Atlanta, GA (June 16-21, 2025)
- Up to 60 teens will be selected for the Leadership Academy in Atlanta.
- Selected teens will leave Atlanta with a comprehension of how successful teams perform. The curriculum will
explore leadership concepts focusing on (1) building, (2) leading, (3) supporting, and (4) assessing a successful team. The academy will provide an opportunity for teens to explore team dynamics that will enhance their future performance as they collaborate with peers and adult mentors. - Activity-based workshops will be facilitated by leaders from the Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta United, Mercedes Benz Stadium, and Arthur Blank Family Foundation.
First Tee Leadership Summit – Emigrant, MT (Week 1: August 4-8 or Week 2: August 11-15)
- 40 teens will be selected for the Leadership Summit in Montana over the two-week session.
- First Tee teens that are selected to the summit experience in Montana will explore leadership concepts including
(1) building authentic relationships by developing awareness, (2) growing through challenge via positive risk taking, and (3) developing positive self-identity through dynamic outdoor and teambuilding activities. Each teen will be challenged to build on their current strengths and values in an intimate setting which provides community building, inspiration and connection with their peers, adult mentors, and the outdoors. - Activity-based workshops will be facilitated by leaders from PGA TOUR Superstore headquarters, West Creek Ranch, and First Tee headquarters.
Considerations
- The First Tee Future Leaders Program is available for any teen that participates in the 5-week leadership series
(past or present,). Regardless of their participation in the Atlanta and/or Montana experience, interested teens are encouraged to speak with their local PGATSS General Manager about the apprenticeship opportunity. The only requirement is that they must be 16 years old or older. - The application process for both the academy in Atlanta and the summit Montana will be combined.
- Local PGATSS leadership and the First Tee chapter liaison will select and nominate their top 5 candidates in total to apply for the two opportunities.
- Teens cannot attend the leadership academy in Atlanta and summit in Montana in the same year.
